With most exit polls predicting a tough fight between the ruling BJP and the Congress in Goa, the coastal state is bracing for yet another spell of hectic political parleys. With the polling authorities in the state saying that the results may be out as early as 11 a.m., the two main political parties are already reaching out to all possible quarters for support, in case they fall short of numbers.
BJP asks EC to ensure UP counting centres fully protected

A day after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged malpractices, a BJP delegation on Wednesday met EC and requested it to ensure that the counting centres are fully protected The BJP delegation of Union Minister and election in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Ministers Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and G. Kishan Reddy and party leader Om Pathak, met the Election Commission on Wednesday.
Battle for UP: Akhilesh alleges malpractices before counting

Addressing a hurriedly convened press conference here, he alleged that this was being done especially for 47 seats that BJP had won with a margin of less than 5,000 votes in 2017. He said that a truck carrying EVMs had been intercepted by party workers in Varanasi while two other trucks managed to speed away. The SP chief said that ballots had been found in Bareilly and Sonbhadra.

BJP model gives the ruling party 255 seats in UP

The Model is based on the political affinity of the castes of Uttar Pradesh towards BJP. As per the model, Brahmin vote is moving 25 per cent away from the BJP as it got 100 per cent affinity in 2017 elections while this time it will be 75 per cent. Kurmi caste is moving away 50 per cent away from BJP to 50 per cent in 2022 from 100 per cent in 2017. The same number prevails for the Jats in 2022, Gujjar, Rajbhar, Bind and Kushwaha.
Polling begins for final phase of UP Assembly elections

This phase will bring the curtain down on one of the most fiercely contested elections in the state. Polling is being held in a total of 54 Assembly constituencies of Purvanchal, spread across nine districts. The districts where polling is being held include Azamgarh, Mau, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Bhadohi and Sonbhadra. The counting for all the phases will be done on March 10.

As the curtain comes down on the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, with just a few hours left for the final and seventh phase of polling on Monday, the stakes have reached an all-time high for major political players in Uttar Pradesh.A total of 54 Assembly constituencies of Purvanchal will go for polling on March 7 while counting for all the phases will be done on March 10. UP records 53.90% turnout in penultimate phase of Assembly polls

The voter turnout figure was approximate trend as the data from some polling stations takes time to reach it. As per the EC data, in Ambedkar Nagar district registered 62.22 per cent turnout, Ballia 53.93 per cent, Balrampur 48.64 per cent, Basti 56.81%, Deoria 52.30 per cent, Gorakhpur 55.17%, Kushinagar 56.08 per cent, Maharajganj 59.28% , Sant Kabir Nagar 54.39%, and Siddharthnagar district recorded 50.19%.
