UNESCO, Netflix partner to celebrate India's diverse cultural heritage

Over the next year, a series of fun short videos themed 'One Country, Incredible Diversity' will shine a light on India's cultural journey, including monuments, living heritage, performing arts, social practices, rituals and festivals such as Dussehra, Diwali and Holi. UNESCO seeks to encourage the identification, protection, and preservation of cultural and natural heritage.
Ramappa temple inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List

The historic site was inscribed on the same day when Quanzhou: Emporium of the World in Song-Yuan China, Trans-Iranian Railway, and Spain's Paseo del Prado and Buen Retiro, a landscape of Arts and Sciences, were also added to the prestigious list. Rudreshwara, popularly known as Ramappa Temple, is located in the village of Palampet approximately 200km northeast of Hyderabad, in the state of Telangana.
Liverpool loses UNESCO World Heritage tag

Liverpool's historic centre and docklands were inscribed for bearing witness to the development of one of the world's major trading centres in the 18th and 19th centuries. The site also illustrated pioneering developments in modern dock technology, transport systems and port management.
UNESCO reports persistent gender bias in cultural & creative industries

The report titled 'Gender & Creativity: Progress on the Precipice' explores existing, and at times widening, gender gaps in the field, notably in the context of Covid-19, and calls for a new commitment and transformative actions to promote gender equality. The digital divide remains a pressing concern, with women disproportionately facing obstacles to access digital tools for artistic creation and distribution, including digital music platforms, online tutorials, and sound-mixing software.
A look at 8 new UNESCO Global Geoparks

Earlier this month, UNESCO designated eight new UNESCO Global Geoparks, which brings the number of sites participating in the Global Geoparks Network to 169 in 44 countries.
