US unemployment ticks up to 4% in Jan

In January, employment growth continued in leisure and hospitality, in professional and business services, in retail trade, and in transportation and warehousing, according to the report.
Urban unemployment rate at 6.9% in 2019-20: Union Minister

The joblessness rates in 2017-18 and 2018-19 were 7.7 percent and 7.6 percent respectively. The data on employment and unemployment is collected through the PLF Survey conducted by National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) since 2017-18. The minister said in Rajya Sabha that the government has launched All-India Quarterly Establishment Based Employment Survey (AQEES) in April 2021.
Employment outlook at a record high of 8 years

Joblessness top concern of urban Indians in Oct 2021: Survey

According to the survey, unlike earlier, concern around Covid-19 has receded both for global citizens and Urban Indians. It sat on top as the top worry of global citizens (28 markets including India) for 18 months. Among the Indians, the urban citizens are more concerned about unemployment (42 per cent), coronavirus (35 ), financial & political corruption (30 per cent), poverty and social inequality (26 per cent), crime and violence (24 per cent), education (20 per cent),among others.
Amidst pandemic, job count grows in 9 key sectors in April-June quarter

The growth has come as compared to 2.37 crore job count as reported by the sixth Economic Census (2013-14). The nine sectors account for majority of the total employment in non-farm establishments.
Investment surge in UP continues

The maximum number of industrial plots have been taken by investors from the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA), in western UP. According to the government spokesman, several new industries are now being set up in ten districts of west UP, namely Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Hapur, Aligarh, Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Bulandshahr and Saharanpur with permanent employment in these industries.
Job scenario worsens, unemployment rate shoots up to 8% in April

"April 2021 turned out to be worse than expectations. We had expected the labour participation rate to stabilise at its March 2021 level. The LPR had dropped sharply in March already after a modest fall in February. But, the LPR fell for a third consecutive month in April," CMIE's CEO Mahesh Vyas said.
Job activity declined in most Indian industries in April

The employment index by online job search platform Monster saw a decline in job posting activity in April compared to March by 3 per cent. Overall job postings declined by 4 per cent (year-on-year) as of April and openings for entry-level roles declined by 5 per cent (month-on-month), according to latest data provided by the company.

The top five worries of urban Indians were unemployment or joblessness, Covid-19, financial and political corruption, while crime and violence and poverty and social inequality are tied at the fourth spot, and education.
