Kremlin rubbishes Zelensky's claims about Putin
Russia and Putin are "a big problem" for Zelensky, so it's natural that he "would prefer that neither Russia nor Putin existed", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Thursday, RT reported. He was reacting to a claim that Zelensky had made earlier in the day during his virtual appearance at the Ukrainian Breakfast, an event hosted on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, RT reported.
Canada to donate 200 additional armoured vehicles to Ukraine
According to a statement issued by the Defence Ministry on Wednesday, Anand made the announcement during her visit to Kiev and these vehicles, which are being purchased from Roshel, a Canadian company based in Ontario, are valued at more than 90 million Canadian dollars ($72 million), Xinhua news agency reported.
Russia deploys lethal anti-aircraft systems around Moscow
Putin has now deployed Russia's fearsome S-400 defence missiles to two locations in the capital amid fears Kyiv could launch attacks on the city, the Daily Mail reported. The S-400 'Triumf' air defence system is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range missiles. It can also be used against ground objectives.
Russian strike in Ukraine's Dnipro: Death toll mounts to 21
Confirming the death toll in Saturday's incident, Dnipro Regional Council Head Mykola Lukashuk posted on Telegram that 73 people were injured while 38 were rescued. Relief and rescue operations are on, Ukrinform reported. In the attack, 72 apartments were destroyed and over 230 damaged in the apartment block, where two sections, from floor 2 to floor 9, were smashed.
UN nuclear watchdog to increase presence in Ukraine
The IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said in a statement that he would travel to Ukraine next week to "establish a continuous presence of nuclear safety and security experts" at all of Ukraine's nuclear power facilities, Xinhua news agency reported.
