Twitter buys Threader to help develop its 'Blue' features

According to Engadget, it is one of the few apps that allow you to make threads easier to digest. By tagging Threader's profile and typing "compile," the bot will condense a series of tweets into an article-like form. As part of the announcement, Threader will shut down on December 15, but its feature set will live on as part of Twitter Blue.

The algorithmic image cropping that Twitter was using to fit images into preview boxes was problematic. In a blog post, Rumman Chowdhury, a software engineering director for Twitter's machine learning ethics, transparency and accountability team, wrote that the company concluded the algorithm was biased after testing it for gender- and race-based biases.

"With Undo Tweet, subscribers can preview and perfect Tweets before they are sent," the company said in a blogpost. The feature is live on the web now, and it is coming to iOS and Android soon.
