Harmanpreet Kaur to lead India ODI team in Sri Lanka as Mithali Raj retires

The Indian women's team will play three T20Is and as many ODIs in Dambulla and Kandy respectively during their Sri Lanka tour, beginning on June 23. Earlier in the day, Mithali announced her retirement from international cricket, following which, Harmanpreet, India's T20I captain, has taken over the reins in ODIs. Smriti Mandhana has been named as her deputy.

UAE, Thailand and Malaysia registered wins on the fourth day of the ongoing ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, here on Tuesday. UAE and Thailand continued their respective unbeaten runs at the tournament by beating Qatar and Nepal respectively while Malaysia notched up their second with a 8-wicket victory over Bhutan.
South Africa T20I team arrives in New Delhi ahead of five-match series against India

Shastri, who was India's coach for the 2021 T20 World Cup, reckoned that "no one remembers" bilateral series of T20Is. "Yes, absolutely, there's too much of bilateral stuff going on in T20 cricket," Shastri said on ESPNcricinfo's Runorder programme. Having first endorsed Stokes as a potential Test skipper back in 2016 on England's tour of Bangladesh, Bayliss' prediction came true when the all-rounder was appointed as the skipper in the longest format of the game last week, replacing Joe Root. "We were on a tour of Bangladesh and the England journos asked at a press conference if there was anyone else in the squad besides Joe Root who could take over from 'Cookie' (Alastair Cook). I said Ben Stokes and they all laughed," Bayliss was quoted as saying by 'The Age'.

India won the third and final T20I by 17 runs against the Kieron Pollard-led side in Kolkata with young wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan (34), Shreyan Iyer (25), Suryakumar Yadav (65) and Venkatesh Iyer (35 not out) coming up with useful contributions as the tourists could manage only 167/9 in reply to India's 184/5.
