Gujarat government reply in Bilkis Bano case 'very bulky', says SC

A bench, headed by justice Ajay Rastogi, orally observed that he has not come across a counter affidavit where a series of judgments have been quoted. "A very bulky counter. Where is the factual statement, where is the application of mind?" he asked.
'Good behaviour': Gujarat govt to SC on release of 11 convicts in Bilkis Bano case

In an affidavit, state Home Department Under Secretary said: "I say that the state government considered all the opinions and decided to release 11 prisoners since they have completed 14 years and above in prisons and their behaviour was found to be good."
SC issues notice on Subramanian Swamy's plea to probe RBI officials in financial scams

A bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and B.V. Nagarathna issued a notice to the CBI and the RBI on Subramanian Swamy 's plea. Swamy contended that his prayer is that the CBI or any authority, which this court decides should investigate, and the investigation should include all directors who were there in the process of allocating the loans.

A bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and B.V. Nagarathna said it will hear the matter on November 7. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Mishra, submitted that notice was already issued in the matter. On July 26, the Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench declined to entertain Mishra's bail plea.
Sisodia case: SC junks Manoj Tiwari's plea against summons, allows Vijender Gupta's appeal

On September 21, the Supreme Court reserved its verdict on two separate pleas of BJP leaders Tiwari and Gupta challenging a Delhi High Court order, which declined to quash summons of a trial court against them in a criminal defamation case. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had filed a private defamation complaint against the BJP leaders for allegedly levelling corruption charges against him.
SC imposes Rs 20K fine on plea to declare Satyendar Jain of 'unsound mind'

A bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and A.S. Oka said the plea filed by a Delhi resident is frivolous and dismissed the petition with a fine of Rs 20,000. "It is such a misconceived and frivolous petition that it deserves to be dismissed with a cost of Rs 20,000," it said. Satyendar Jain has been in judicial custody in a money laundering case since May 30.

SC refuses to interfere with Bombay HC order granting bail to Anil Deshmukh

A bench of Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and Hima Kohli said: "We will not interfere with the high court order granting bail...". It added since the observations in the high court order were only confined to if he was entitled to bail, it would clarify that these observations will not affect the merits of the trial or any other proceedings.

Shah and comprising Justice Krishna Murari, said that no coercive action should be taken against journalist Navika Kumar and the FIR registered by the Delhi Police is to be treated as lead FIR. It further added that direction will be applicable to future FIRs which may be registered with respect to the same telecast.

He also added that the ground reality disturbs a man like him. At this, the bench remarked that the bar and bench are two wheels of the chariot. Sibal made these remarks while representing Abdulla Azam Khan, the son of SP leader Azam Khan.
