The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has traced money laundering of more than Rs 1,000 crore in a case related to illegal mining in Jharkhand and is preparing to summon Soren again for questioning on the same. The ED had had called Soren for questioning on November 3, but the latter had sought three weeks' time citing his unavailability. He is likely to be summoned for the second time after November 15, sources said.

On August 17, the Supreme Court had stayed the proceedings before the Jharkhand High Court on PILs filed against Chief Minister Hemant Soren alleging money laundering shell companies and irregularities while granting mining leases, and also reserved its verdict on pleas filed by the state government and Soren challenging maintainability of PILs before high court.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India U.U. Lalit told the petitioner's counsel, "We see no reason to entertain the petition, petition is misconceived," and dismissed it. During the hearing in the matter, the petitioner's counsel cited certain "irregularities, illegal acts" allegedly committed by Justice Chandrachud. The bench, also comprising Justices S. Ravindra Bhat and Bela M. Trivedi told the counsel: "We do not see any substance in this petition".

A bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and B.V. Nagarathna issued a notice to the CBI and the RBI on Subramanian Swamy 's plea. Swamy contended that his prayer is that the CBI or any authority, which this court decides should investigate, and the investigation should include all directors who were there in the process of allocating the loans.
