The controversy was triggered by the suggestion of Vadettiwar, the Opposition leader in the state Assembly, that late ATS chief Hemant Karkare wasn't killed by terrorists during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, causing a massive political firestorm throughout Maharashtra.

According to the tentative seating arrangements, Fadnavis and Shinde will be situated between Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar on the left and Nationalist Congress Party President and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar on the right.

The trio is scheduled to visit Baramati for the NaMo Rojgar Fair, an event aimed at providing employment opportunities to thousands of unemployed individuals ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Despite a delegation sent by the state government to meet with the organizers, including Shivba Sanghatana leader Manoj Jarange-Patil, discussions proved fruitless. The organizers demanded the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar for resolving the issue.

Although Shinde had declined the invitation to the January 22 Pran Pratistha event, he announced his intention to visit Ayodhya at a later date, accompanied by the entire state cabinet, as a representation of the people and devotees of Lord Ram in Maharashtra.

In the legal challenge, concerns are raised about the dismissal of disqualification petitions against CM Shinde and other MLAs accused of anti-party activities.

The fact that Ajit Pawar, who heads a breakaway NCP faction that is a member of the ruling coalition, is not accompanying the duo have added to the rift rumours. 

Shiv Sena's Uddhav Thackeray faction had knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court after the Speaker dragged his feet in deciding on disqualification of lawmakers who aligned with the Shinde group.
