Tendulkar said his list was based purely on the performance of this IPL season and had nothing to do with previous editions. And, in this edition of the IPL, both Sharma and Kohli performed miserably, even though the latter's side made it to the playoffs stage.

But what became a huge talking point was stand-in skipper and current India head coach Rahul Dravid opting to declare the first innings at 675/5 in 161.5 overs. The declaration meant that Tendulkar was stranded at 194, falling six runs short of his double century. The mention of the declaration while approaching a landmark was extensively written by Tendulkar in his autobiography 'Playing It My Way'.

Tendulkar celebrated his 49th birthday on April 24 with the cricketing world paying tribute to the 'Little Master' and calling him an inspiration to the future generations. But the notorious Barmy Army chose the occasion to post an image of Tendulkar's dismissal in a Test match. A fan wrote that England's collective top order these days was finding it difficult to score as many runs as Tendulkar used to score in his prime.

Sachin Tendulkar played 664 international matches out of which he played 200 tests, 463 ODIs, and only one T20I. He made 51 Test 100s and 49 ODI 100s in addotion to 119 Test 50s and 145 ODI 50s. "I had come from the U-19 World Cup. He welcomed me very nicely, made me comfortable and started joking around with me," said Kohli while recalling his first meeting with Yuvraj in 2008. After India's top-order batting line-up comprising of Rohit Sharma (74 off 47 balls), KL Rahul (69 off 48 balls), Hardik Pandya (35 not out off 13 balls), and Rishabh Pant (27 not out off 13 balls) rose to the occasion to post a gigantic 210/2 in 20 overs, it was always a mountain to climb for Afghanistan, who made 144/7 in their 20 overs. He said the Indians handled Afghanistan's star spinner Rashid Khan. "Rarely do you see Rashid Khan giving away 35-36 runs in four overs in T20s."

The Virat Kohli-led side clinched the second Test against England by 151 runs, coming back from a difficult situation at the end of the fourth day. Soon after the win, Sehwag wrote on Twitter, "From At beginning of the day, "bacha paayenge kya" (can they save it), to registering this win at Lords, not many teams can turn around their fortunes in overseas Test Matches like we have done.
