The complaint filed by ARG Outlier Media Private Limited alludes to the statements made by Navika Kumar relating to the chats of Republic TV Editor-in-Chief and founder Arnab Goswami on her show on January 18. The company submitted that the defamatory show had over 85,000 views in addition to the live telecast at prime time in the satellite television, and "the scale of defamation faced by the complainant company is irreparable".

State party President and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat said that the chats between the Republic TV Editor and the ex-BARC head had some serious revelations related to national security and pertaining to the retaliatory surgical strike by India in Balakot, Pakistan.

Shortly after the remand order by the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court, the Republic TV - which has alleged since morning that the arrest was illegal - asserted that the company will challenge it in the Bombay High Court immediately.

A bench headed by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud told senior advocate Milind Sathe, representing Republic TV, "this petition is ambitious in nature".

BARC released a statement through its Twitter handle where it said, "BARC has not commented on the ongoing investigation and it is providing necessary assistance to the law enforcement agency."
