R.K. Rathore, the lawyer representing Punjab Police, told IANS: "The first case was lodged under sections of kidnapping, while the second was lodged under section of assault. The second case was lodged on the complaint of Bagga's father. Delhi police has detained four Punjab Police personnel and taken them to Janakpuri police station".

Confirming the arrest from his West Delhi's residence, Punjab Police later tweeted: "SIT of SAS Nagar Police is looking after the matter. A notice of 41 CrPC was issued against Bagga. This morning he has been arrested." After arrest, he was taken to Mohali for interrogation, sources said. Bagga's family has alleged that his father was allegedly slapped by the police.

While interacting with the media after attending the Joint Conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts here, Khattar said the demand for setting up a separate high court for Haryana has been made in the joint conference. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also demanded the setting up of a separate high court for Punjab, said Khattar.

Inspector General of Police, Patiala Range, Rakesh Aggarwal told the media the situation was under control and heavy police deployed. "The tension started following rumours that some of the protesters had been attacked," he said. A police officer got injuries while trying to stop the Nihangs heading towards the temple, the police said.

Interacting with the media after having inked the agreement, both Chief Ministers Mann and Kejriwal described it as a historic initiative for the well-being and prosperity of people of both the states. The agreement was signed between the Punjab and Delhi governments to share knowledge, experience and skills for the mutual welfare of the people of their respective territories.

Earlier on April 11, Mann had met Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He had discussed the 300 units free electricity scheme in Punjab. Since then, there has been a speculation about its announcement. For the past several weeks, preparations are going on to make 300 units of electricity free in Punjab. Earlier, Mann had also met senior officials of Punjab.

Congress said, "On 13th April 1919, hundreds of innocent people were attacked by an authoritarian mentality. In New India, hundreds of innocent people are attacked by an authoritarian mentality everyday." "They were fighting for their deserved rights. Peacefully. Protecting national interest. Hundreds of them lost their lives doing so at the cruel hands of tyranny. Be it the Jallianwala Bagh protest or the year-long farmers protest; both met the same fate," the Congress added.

The Opposition also asked the Chief Minister to address the pressing concerns of farmers, who are seeking compensation on account of low wheat yields. Joining the issue, newly-appointed state Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring targeted Mann over the Centre's interfering in the state's law and order matters in the context of the Punjab Governor's visits to the border areas.
