Delhi lost to Chennai on a spin-friendly Chepauk track while Punjab Kings suffered a last-ball defeat against KKR at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The Capitals are placed at the bottom of the table with eight points from 11 matches and even if they win their next three matches, it will only take them to 14 points, which might not be enough to earn them a place in the top four.

Liam Livingstone hit a few lusty blows but slipped out eventually. Only, Dhawan (57 off 47) stood out with the bat with his fifty but he lost his wicket at the brink of death overs. The duo of Shahrukh (21 not out off 8) and Harpreet (17 not out off 9) helped them raise 36 runs off the last 12 balls of the inning to turn the momentum on their side.

At the end of the 12th over, Punjab were 99/3 and a slowdown seemed imminent. But Livingstone brought out his high-risk shots to be not out on 82 off 42 balls, hitting seven fours and four sixes. Jitesh, meanwhile, continued his good form to be unbeaten on 49 off 27 balls, smashing five fours and two sixes.
