Harpreet Brar then ripped through the DC batting line-up with 4/30 as a lethal bowling performance from PBKS saw them restrict the home side to 136/8 and win the match by 31 runs on Saturday night. The Capitals are placed at the bottom of the table with eight points from 11 matches and even if they win their next three matches, it will only take them to 14 points, which might not be enough to earn them a place in the top four.

The win took KKR to fifth on the table and got a new life to their challenge for a playoff spot. On the other hand, will be deflated with that loss and it is a big blow to their chances of making it through to the playoffs. "The wicket looks quite dry, we would like to put in a good total and defend it. The impact player has helped us bat deeper and that's helped us post 200-plus quite regularly. It looks like the pitch will cause the ball to stop a little," PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan said at the toss.

But Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav had other ideas at the IS Bindra PCA Stadium on Wednesday. In front of a vociferous crowd, Kishan slammed a terrific 75 while Suryakumar brought out his innovative array of shots in a whirlwind 66 as the duo shared a match-winning partnership of 116 for the third wicket to help Mumbai Indians chase down 215 and beat Punjab Kings by six wickets.

At the end of the 12th over, Punjab were 99/3 and a slowdown seemed imminent. But Livingstone brought out his high-risk shots to be not out on 82 off 42 balls, hitting seven fours and four sixes. Jitesh, meanwhile, continued his good form to be unbeaten on 49 off 27 balls, smashing five fours and two sixes.

After winning the toss, Rohit said uncapped India pacer Akash Madhwal, who plays for Uttarakhand in domestic cricket, replaces injured Australia fast bowler Riley Meredith in the playing eleven. "It's a good pitch, we have chased down targets pretty well, so will stick to our strengths. You always want to have a score in front of you on such pitches."

PBKS picked up three runs off the final delivery and got a memorable win, going on to set the record for the highest run-chase at M.A. Chidambaram stadium and they also go level on points with CSK. Devon Conway (92* off 52) smacked his fifth half-century of the season to propel CSK to 200/4 as Dhoni provided finishing touches in Dhoni style with two sixes off the final two balls to the delight of the home crowd
