American-Iranian filmmaker Ramin Bahrani directs the India-centric film that stars Adarsh Gourav in a central role. The film is based on Aravind Adiga's Man Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name. In the film, Priyanka and Rajkummar are seen as an affluent couple, who have been living with their family in India after returning from the US for their business. Adarsh is seen as their driver, Balram Halwai.

Written and directed by Jim Strouse, the film is an English remake of the German-language film "SMS Fur Dich", based on Sofie Cramer's novel.
