India should aim to achieve over $10 bn leather exports by 2025: Piyush Goyal
Goyal made these remarks while addressing an event of the Council for Leather Exports (CLE). He said that he feels "very satisfied" that the leather industry is aiming to grow at least $10 billion by 2025, though it provides only a growth rate of about 15-17 per cent. The minister also said that the industry has the potential to aim for even higher targets.
India poised to achieve services export target of $1 tn: Piyush Goyal
Goyal said that services sector provides employment to nearly 2.6 crore people and contributes to approximately 40 per cent of India's total global exports. He also said that services trade surplus was $89 billion in FY 2020-21 and has been the largest FDI recipient (53 per cent of FDI inflows 2000-2021).

Addressing a mid-term review meeting with the heads of various EPCs, Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, pointed out that India's exports have bounced back, touching $197 billion in the first half of FY2021-22. Goyal said with 48 per cent targeted volumes achieved, "we are on the right track".
Aim to increase textiles exports to $100 bn, Goyal tells exporters
In an interaction session with the country's textile industry held here, the Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Textiles, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution said: "We must aim to increase textiles exports three times from present export value of $33 billion to $100 billion of textiles exports at the earliest."

Currently, India is in discussions on FTAs with several countries including the UK, UAE and GCC countries, Australia and European Union. The Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles cited that India and US have agreed to aspire for $500 billion trade in near future.
Target $2 trillion exports by 2030, says Goyal
In a meeting, Goyal asked the export community to target $2 trillion exports by 2030, comprising $1 trillion merchandise and $1 trillion services exports. He announced two separate divisions that are being set up in the Commerce Ministry are focused on the services sector in order to attain the $1 trillion services export target. Goyal urged all export promotion councils to take immediate and effective steps.

Commerce and Industry Ministry Piyush Goyal said that sector specific interventions, involvement of all the stakeholders and functioning of the government as a whole helped in achieving the growth. Simplification of procedures, and extension of timelines and licences has also resulted in the record performance of exports, he added.
No changes in FDI policy for e-commerce, clarifications soon: Goyal
Addressing the media here, Goyal, who also handles the Consumer Affairs portfolio, said that consumers are the priority for the government and hence, it has recently come up with the draft e-commerce rules for consumer protection. After these rules are finalised, the government will come up with the much-anticipated e-commerce policy, he said. On the foreign trade policy, Goyal said that the policy should be released by October.
