"This target will be achieved through sustainable fishing, ensuring quality and variety, promotion of coastal shipping and aquaculture, and by supporting the entire fisheries ecosystem," said Goyal, addressing the mediapersons at the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), Kochi.

Addressing a media briefing here, Goyal said that during 2021-22, $30 billion export was recorded on a monthly basis, and this was despite the second and third wave of Coronavirus pandemic hitting the country hard. The engineering goods exports hit a record $111 billion, of which about $16 billion worth goods were shipped to the U.S. alone.

Goyal lauded the ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services) industry including the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector for the record Services exports during the last year and informed that the Government has taken several steps to boost the start-up ecosystem, as removing problems of ‘Angel tax', simplification of tax procedure & allowing self-certification and self-regulation, reducing the burden of over 26,500 compliances and decriminalization of 770 compliances.

They also agreed to impart fresh momentum to the discussions on the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CEPA) upgradation negotiations and also promote extensive B2B interactions on trade and investment between industry leaders of the two countries, a Commerce and Industry Ministry statement said.
Piyush Goyal inaugurates first Startup India Innovation week
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is organising the first-ever Startup India Innovation Week from January10-16. This virtual week-long innovation celebration aims to commemorate the 75th year of India's Independence 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' and is designed to showcase the spread and depth of entrepreneurship across India. Goyal said his ministry is now at a position to recognize at least four startups in an hour, and the government has recognised more than 60,000 startups so far.
