Responding to inquiries from the Indian community regarding the situation in Manipur, Jaishankar empathized with the sentiments of the people, expressing regret over the unfolding events. He underscored the necessity for peace and order to prevail, emphasizing that the current state of affairs in Manipur is not reflective of the India anyone aspires for.

Addressing the prolonged ethnic strife, the Army's Eastern Command Chief pointed out that over 4000 looted weapons are still in circulation, fueling intermittent incidents of violence.

Commissioner (Home) T Ranjit Singh in an order said that anyone found violating the government’s orders shall be booked and prosecuted under relevant provisions of the law, without any exception.

The bench of CJI DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said that the objective of constitution of such a committee is to restore the faith and confidence of the community in the justice system and secondly, to ensure that the rule of law is restored.

The committee will be headed by Justice Gita Mittal, former Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. Justice Shalini Joshi, retired judge of the Bombay High Court and Justice Asha Menon, former judge of the Delhi High Court will also form the part of the committee.

A security personnel was killed at Koutruk in Bishnupur district when the armed attackers engaged in an encounter with the security forces. A Manipur Police statement late on Thursday night said that a mob stormed Keirenphabi Police outpost and Thangalawai Police outpost of Manipur Armed Police's 2nd Battalion in Bishnupur and took away a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

"The investigation is so lethargic. There has been a breakdown of constitutional machinery to the extent that FIR could not be registered. Maybe it is correct that the police could not arrest as it could not enter the locality. There was a complete breakdown of law and order machinery of the state," remarked a bench headed by CJI D.Y.
