NIRF used various methodologies to evaluate universities like - Teaching, Learning, and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), and Perception (PR).

The NIRF ranking list includes overall, university, management, college, pharmacy, medical, engineering, architecture, ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements), law and research institutions. Meanwhile, Jamia Hamdard has once again taken the top rank in the pharmacy category followed by National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Hyderabad at second place.

As per the NIRF Rankings 2022 released on Friday by the Union Ministry of Education, DU's Miranda House College as well as the Hindu College have been selected as the first and the second top educational institutions respectively across the country. Overall, five colleges from DU are selected among the top 10 colleges across the country.

Uncountable colleges and universities try to enter the prestigious NIRF listing but only a few of them meet the eligibility criteria to figure among the top colleges. The colleges are judged on a number of factors including teaching methodology, resource base, learning, research practices, professional exposure, Graduation Outcomes, etc.
