Bollywood financer, Mumbai realtor Yusuf Lakdawala dies in custody
Lakdawala, 76, was nabbed by the Mumbai Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in 2019, and later by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in 2020 in connection with the land-grabbing of the plot owned by the late writer in Khandala hill station. Lodged at the Arthur Road Central Jail, he was admitted to the jail hospital and then rushed to the Sir J. J. Hospital for treatment but succumbed this morning.

The third breakthrough on the right hand side tunnel was completed on Tuesday - three months ahead of schedule - by teams of Afcons Infrastructure Ltd on the Package 14 of the Greenfield project of Mumbai-Nagpur Super Communication Expressway. The construction company, Afcons is hopeful of completing both the tunnels by September-end, officials said here on Tuesday.

PNB scam: Mumbai court grants bail to Dhanesh Sheth, close aide of Choksi
Sheth's lawyer Vijay Aggarwal argued during the case hearing on Monday that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was trying to "fire from the shoulder of the judge". He said that in this matter a supplementary charge sheet was filed by the CBI, summons were issued by the court and cognizance was taken on June 15 this year. Aggarwal vehemently argued that the investigation was completed in the present case.
After Vaze, ED to record statement of ex-Mumbai Commissioner
Earlier in the day, ED officials said that the agency will question Vaze on Saturday inside the jail premises in Mumbai. On Thursday, a Special Court has granted permission to the ED to visit Vaze and record his statement in the jail. It may be recalled that on May 19, Vaze had claimed to the ED that he had collected Rs 4.70 crore from bars in Mumbai between December 2020-February 2021 allegedly on Deshmukh's orders.
Expecting bail, Koregaon-Bhima accused Fr Stan Swamy dies in custody
Senior advocate Mihir Desai, who was representing him, brought the development to the notice of the Bombay High Court bench of Justices S.S. Shinde and N.J. Jamdar when the bail plea came up for hearing this afternoon. "It is with a very heavy heart I have to inform you that Fr Stan Swamy has passed away," said Dr Ian D'Souza, the doctor treating him at the Holy Family Hospital, informed the court.
