Freshers feel the heat as IT majors put onboarding on indefinite hold

Tech majors like Wipro, Tech Mahindra and other MNCs have either put off recruitment of freshers or asked them to wait until they are intimated. The freshers awaiting onboarding in Wipro have launched a full fledged campaign on social media, questioning Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji's integrity and commitment as he spoke strongly about ethics in connection with moonlighting.

According to reports, hundreds of freshers were given offer letters but first the joining of those candidates were postponed and finally, their offer letter was revoked. The news, first reported by BusinessLine, quoted emails sent by these companies to the freshers whose offer letters were rejected.
Wipro records gross revenue of Rs 215.3 billion in Q1

In its financial results, announced under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for the first quarter ended June 30, the IT services segment revenue was at $2,735.5 million, an increase of 13.3 per cent, while Non-GAAP2 constant currency IT Services segment revenue increased by 2.1 per cent QoQ and 17.2 per cent YoY.
Wipro registers net income of Rs 29.7 bn for Q3 FY22, up 1.3% QoQ

Wipro registered net income of Rs 29.7 billion ($399.1 million) for the third quarter, marking an increase of 1.3 per cent QoQ. Its IT services segment revenue stood at $2,639.7 million, an increase of 2.3 per cent QoQ and 27.5 per cent YoY. Non-GAAP2 constant currency IT services segment revenue increased by 3 per cent QoQ and 28.5 per cent YoY. Its IT services operating margin for the quarter was 17.6 per cent, a decrease of 19 bps QoQ. Earnings per share for the quarter was at Rs 5.43, an increase of 4.2 per cent YoY.
Wipro's consolidated Q2FY22 YoY net profit up 18.9%

The net profit attributable to equity holders of the company rose to Rs 2,930.7 crore during the period under review from Rs 2,465.6 crore during the corresponding period of the last fiscal. Its revenue increased 30.12 per cent during Q2FY22 to Rs 19,667.4 crore from Rs 15,114.5 crore from the like quarter of FY21.
Wipro Chairman announces return to office from Monday

"After 18 long months, our leaders are coming back to the office starting tomorrow (Monday) twice a week. All fully vaccinated, all ready to go - safely and socially distanced! We will watch this closely," he said in a tweet. Premji also put out a short video of 59 seconds showing how well campus is ready to welcome its employees and their safety is ensured at multiple checkpoints through temperature checks and QR scans.
Wipro investing $1 billion to expand cloud services

"As the cloud opportunity accelerates, FullStride services bring together our full portfolio of capabilities, offerings and talent to our clients across verticals," it said.
