UAE's Hope spacecraft snaps Mars' glowing auroras
The ultraviolet emissions arise when solar wind runs into magnetic fields that emanate from Mars's crust. Charged particles then collide with oxygen in the upper atmosphere, causing it to glow, Nature reported. The mission, also called the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM), is the first uncrewed, interplanetary satellite by the UAE. It arrived at Mars in February and started its official science run on May 23.
NASA's Ingenuity helicopter completes 8th flight on Mars
It flew for 77.4 seconds and travelled 160 meters to a new landing spot, about 133.5 meters from NASA's Persevere rover. Ingenuity arrived at Mars' Jezero Crater on Feb. 18, attached to the belly of the Perseverance rover. The helicopter is a technology demonstration with a planned test flight duration of up to 30 Martian days.
China's Mars rover sends 1st selfie, 'touring' group photos
The first batch of scientific images of the rover, the panoramic view of the landing site, the topography of Mars were released by the China National Space Administration (CNSA) on Friday, calling it "tour group photos".
