HP begins manufacturing laptops, multiple PC products in India
The company has begun manufacturing multiple models of laptops, desktop towers, mini desktops at the Flex facility in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
HP is also manufacturing display monitors in India. Some of these products qualify under public procurement order of the government and will be available on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal to meet the demands of the government departments and other customers, according to the company.
November healthy sales boost India's manufacturing sector: PMI
The headline seasonally-adjusted IHS Markit India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 57.6 (index reading) in November as against a reading of 55.9 in October. Notably, the headline figure was well above its long-run average of 53.6.
PLI scheme to attract Rs 5K cr for drone manufacturing: Minister
According to Scindia, incentives worth Rs 120 crore will be given under the scheme in the next three years. "This amount is 1.5 times the combined size of the drone manufacturing sector," he said during a press briefing here. "Over a period of three years, an estimated investment worth Rs 5,000 crore for the drone manufacturing sector will be made which in turn will bring a turnover of Rs 900 crore, besides creating 10,000 job opportunities," he added.
Hiring outlook for manufacturing sector remains subdued
Around 68 per cent of the respondents to the FICCI Manufacturing Survey for Q2 (July-September) said that they are not likely to hire additional workforce in the next three months. "This presents a near stable situation in the hiring scenario as compared to the previous quarter Q-1 of 2021-22, where 69 per cent of the respondents maintained similar sentiments," said a FICCI statement.
US manufacturing sector expands despite Delta surge, hiring difficulty
The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) stood at 59.9 per cent, up 0.4 percentage point from the July reading, Xinhua news agency quoted the ISM as saying on Wednesday. Any reading above 50 per cent indicates the manufacturing sector is generally expanding. The manufacturing sector saw slower growth in July from the prior month, as companies and suppliers continued to struggle to meet increasing levels of demand.
India's eight core industries' June production up around 9%
The Index of Eight Core Industries' (ICI) reading for last month showed an expansion of 8.9 per cent from a decline of 12.4 per cent in output during the same month of the last year. Last year, the pandemic-triggered national lockdown (from late March 2020) during Q1FY21 had a massive impact on the economy, and it was only on June 1, 2020, that the partial unlock measures were implemented.

It noted the fact that foreign investment flowing into India's tech industry at an accelerated pace has been seen as grounds for optimism, which some have even touted as a sign of the booming Indian knowledge economy. Government may issue guidelines for 'flex-fuel' vehicles by October
The government is also working on an incentive scheme to promote manufacture and use of flex engines in vehicles. The details would be specified when policy in this regard is unveiled. The use of flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) is being actively looked at by the government to ensure increased use of bio-fuels for running vehicles, Petroleum Secretary Tarun Kapoor had told IANS earlier.
Covid 2.0 debts India's June manufacturing output: PMI
The PMI had averaged 51.5 in the opening quarter of fiscal year 2021-22, the lowest three-month figure since the same period one year ago. Accordingly, the headline seasonally adjusted IHS Markit India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) fell to 48.1 (index reading) in June as against a reading of 50.8 in May.
Centre to develop seaplane services in India
An MoU was signed between the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation, for this purpose. As per the MoU, a coordination committee with officials from Ministries of Civil Aviation, Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Tourism is to be set up for timely completion of operationalisation of seaplane services at various locations.
