Before Kharge addressed the mediapersons in Ahmedabad after BJP senior leader Jaynarayan Vyas joined the Congress. Kharge and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot welcomed Vyas in the party. While speaking with the mediapersons Kharge said, "Congress has prepared India's development roadmap in the 70 years, and the party that has come to power recently, knows only one language to attack political opponents, it has no vision to take ahead the country."

The newly-elected President of Congress hit out at Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for weakening the Congress. "You are weakening the party which is alive from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and ready to fight. If you are against BJP's ideology, why did you support black laws on agriculture and triple talaq bill," he asked the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader. Mallikarjun Kharge said that there is no difference between KCR and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kharge also said he will address his first public meeting in Gujarat, where the BJP has assimilated Sardar Patel as its own and built a grand statue in his honour. The Congress has said the BJP wants to use Sardar Patel to demean Jawaharlal Nehru.
