Over 11,000 city workers in Los Angeles go on 24-hour strike
Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721, the largest public sector union in Southern California, said in a Facebook post on Tuesday that it staged a one-day walkout over "unfair labour practice", Xinhua news agency reported. "We refuse to accept LA City's bad faith bargaining efforts and repeated labour law violations. We strike today to demand respect and fight for our dignity," the union noted.
Los Angeles County lifts public health emergency for Covid
"As the longest emergency in LA County history draws to a close after 1,122 days, we honor the 36,000 who lost their lives and reflect on the opportunity to serve the public during this challenging time," wrote county officials in a tweet on Friday. The local state of emergency for Covid-19 was initially proclaimed on March 4, 2020, in Los Angeles County, home to over 10 million residents.

1 dead, 4 injured in shooting in Colorado
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon, Xinhua news agency reported. The Denver Police Department wrote on Tuesday in an update on Twitter that five victims were located, adding that four of the victims were transported to hospital and one was pronounced deceased. Officials shared a photo of a dark vehicle that "is believed to have been used by the suspect(s) in this shooting," and urged anyone who saw it or knew the person(s) associated with the vehicle to call police.
