Is there easy access to healthcare for lesbians and bisexual women?

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender are referred to as LGBT. They are labels used to identify a person's gender identity or sexual orientation. The Supreme Court ruled on September 6, 2018, in a long-awaited decision, that consensual sexual relations between adults of the same gender are not a crime in India. In spite of this landmark judgment, there is still a whole lot of stigma and non-acceptance that the community faces.
Indo-Lankan lesbian lovers threaten suicide if not allowed to go to India

On Monday, the Indian woman, arriving in Sri Lanka on tourist visa, had gone to Akkaraipattu, 220 km from Colombo, and had stayed overnight at her friend's house. The father of 33-year-old local woman, who is married with one child, had objected to the relationship and complained to the local police station in Akkaraipattu.

Survey shows increasing support for LGBTQ+ rights

The apex Indian court, in 2018, passed the landmark decision of scrapping Article 377, which decriminalized homosexuality. The Ipsos LGBTQ + Pride Survey of 19,069 global citizens says that at least 4 in 10 (44 per cent) urban Indians believe same sex couples should be allowed to marry legally and 14 per cent feel same sex couples should be allowed some legal status but not marry.
