ED files FIR with Delhi Police against Kolkata Police officials
The ED had said there was fabrication in the court order and now has filed an FIR with the Delhi Police. Senior ED officials were earlier summoned by Kolkata Police in the matter pertaining to leaking of purported audio conversation between ED officials and the businessman. The ED had approached Delhi High Court seeking relief in the matter. Summons were issued again after Trinamool Congress leader Banerjee and his wife were asked to join the ED's probe in Delhi.
Three killed, many injured in Bengal train accident
"Deeply concerned to hear about the tragic accident of the Bikaner-Guwahati Express in Maynaguri. Senior officers of the State Government, DM/SP/IG North Bengal are supervising rescue and relief operations. Those injured will receive medical attention, as early as possible," Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said.

The youth, reportedly belonging to Uttar Pradesh, entered the restricted area and tried to pick the sword kept in front of the Guru Granth Sahib. He was caught by security persons and was handed over to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) office, where he was beaten to death.
Loans could be only alternative to run Mamata's social schemes
Financial experts are of the opinion that presently it is not difficult to run these schemes by taking loans from the market but if the government cannot improve its revenue structure in the coming years, then in the long run it would become impossible for the government to give these social benefit schemes a permanent status.

RSS chalks out massive expansion plan in West Bengal
As a part of the new organisational module the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has decided to recruit nearly 1000 whole-timers in the party. "In the rural areas where there is a panchayat system one whole-timer or 'Pracharak' will be recruited in each Gram Panchayat (Mandal). In the municipal and corporation areas there will be one whole-timer in each ward," RSS spokesperson Biplab Roy said.

While Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) at 556 made it to the top of the list, Kolkata and Mumbai recorded an AQI of 177 and 169, respectively, at fourth and sixth position, on the list. The cities with the worst AQI indices also include Lahore, in Pakistan, and Chengdu, in China. Banerjee defeated her BJP rival Priyanka Tibrewal by a margin of 58,835 votes. Of the total 1,16,75 polled votes, she secured 85,263 votes, Tibrewal 26,426 and CPI-M's Shreejib Biswas only got 4,226 votes. Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, who won from this seat in the Assembly polls earlier this year but resigned to make way for Banerjee.
