Taking cognisance of Goyal’s grievances, the Special PMLA Judge has ordered the Arthur Road Central Jail chief medical officer to submit a status report on his health status since his remand to the jail, by Saturday. Appearing in the court via video-conferencing, Goyal, 74, contended that he was facing several health issues but the jail health authorities were not considering his medical issues nor submitting a report to the court.

The sources said that Goyal was arrested at around 10 p.m. on Friday after a marathon interrogation in connection with causing Rs 538 crore loss to Canara Bank. The security clearance come in wake of the proposed change in Jet Airways's management control and shareholding pattern, for the scheduled operator permit, according to officials privy to the development. The government move came after the Jalan Kalrock Consortium became the new promoter of the airline and approached the government for the security clearance. The airline, earlier owned by Naresh Goyal, had operated its last flight on April 17, 2019 before a financial crunch led to suspension of its operations.
