NASA shifts Crew-5 launch to ISS due to hurricane Ian

Mission teams continue to monitor the impacts of Hurricane Ian on the Space Coast and NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida and could adjust the launch date again, NASA was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency. The Dragon Endurance spacecraft is currently mated to the Falcon 9 rocket and safely secured inside SpaceX's hangar at Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center.

Most striking in Webb's new image is the crisp view of the planet Neptune's rings -- some of which have not been detected since NASA's Voyager 2 became the first spacecraft to observe Neptune during its flyby in 1989. In addition to several bright, narrow rings, the Webb image clearly shows Neptune's fainter dust bands.
NASA aims Sep 3 as next Artemis Moon mission launch attempt

"During that launch attempt, teams were not able to chill down the four RS-25 engines to approximately minus 420 degrees Fahrenheit, with engine 3 showing higher temperatures than the other engines," the US space agency said in a statement late on Tuesday.

NASA has reportedly rescheduled the next flight window for Friday depending on the rocket's readiness. The weather was said to be generally cloudy with a little storm here and there but good enough to launch the rocket, but fuel leaks led to the cancellation of the launch for which countdown started on Sunday. Its gigantic Space Launch System rocket is considered to be the agency's most powerful when it's ultimately launched.
James Webb telescope likely spots first supernova

According to Mike Engesser of the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), the object is extremely bright compared to the rest of the galaxy. And Webb observed the galaxy, called SDSS.J141930.11+5251593, twice, five days apart; the object dimmed, just slightly, over those five days -- classic supernova behaviour, Inverse reported. "We suspect it's a supernova," Engesser was quoted as saying.
Virgin Orbit launches 7 satellites in first night mission

The launch, named Straight Up, began at 10:50 p.m. local time on July 1 (8:20 am IST), and concluded with the successful deployment of all seven payloads at approximately 12:55 a.m. Pacific (1:25 pm IST) on July 2, the company said in a statement. Virgin Orbit's fully mobile LauncherOne system conducted its first ever evening flight from a bare concrete pad and a runway at the Mojave Air and Space Port in California.
Webb telescope to explore two rocky, Earths-like planets

The huge telescope plans to start it's in-depth science investigation by exploring strange, new rocky worlds in unprecedented detail. According to NASA, it will study two hot exoplanets classified as "super-Earths" for their size and rocky composition: the lava-covered 55 Cancri e and the airless LHS 3844 b. The telescope aims to study geology on these small planets from "50 light-years away", officials said in a statement.
NASA now likely to launch Artemis 1 moon rocket in Aug: Report

Artemis 1, was earlier scheduled to launch in late May 2022. However, due to multiple delays in its wet dress rehearsal, touted as the final test, the mega moon rocket has been pushed further. NASA now plans to take its final test in June, and if all goes according to plan it could set the stage for its first launch in August, Space.com reported.

It also suggests that while extensive flood-basalt eruptions on Mars and Venus may have helped warm their climates, they could have doomed the long-term habitability of these worlds by contributing to water loss.
