Uncapped Zakir Hasan earns maiden call-up to Bangladesh squad for first Test against India

Hasan, who is also a wicket-keeper, got the call-up to the Bangladesh Test squad after scoring a heroic 173 in the second innings of a four-day game to force a draw against India A at Cox's Bazar last week. The ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal continues to be on the sidelines due to a groin injury while Mosaddek Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman don't feature in the Test squad which will be captained by Shakib Al Hasan, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam being other spinners.

On Tuesday, Kanitkar was made the women's team batting coach with Powar appointed as the spin bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Kanitkar, who coached India U19 to the World Cup title early this year in West Indies, had been with the women's team during their white-ball tour of Sri Lanka in June-July and was also the batting coach of men's team on the tour of New Zealand in November.

Rohit suffered the injury in the second over when he attempted to take a catch at second slip of Anamul Haque off pacer Mohammed Siraj. Siraj pitched the length ball outside the off-stump and Haque hung his bat in the corridor without any footwork. The ball went to Rohit, who could not hold on to it as the ball dipped on him, despite trying to get both hands to it.
