SA v IND, 2nd Test: Gutsy Elgar leads the way as South Africa require 122 runs to win
With two days left in the match, South Africa need 122 runs to level the series while India look for eight wickets to script their maiden series victory in the 'Rainbow Nation'. Resuming from 34/0 at tea, Aiden Markram continued his nice nick from the second session, driving Shardul Thakur through point. But Thakur bounced back by rapping Markram on pads twice for lbw calls and then beating him on the fifth ball. Thakur closed the over by trapping Markram lbw with a nip-backer and smashing his back leg.

SA v IND, 2nd Test: South Africa reach 35/1 after bowlers restrict India to 202
At stumps, South Africa were still trailing India by 167 runs at the Wanderers here on Monday. On a day on which eleven wickets fell for overall 237 runs, South Africa kept themselves on top after a solid bowling performance helped them restrict India to 202. After being bowled out for a modest score, Mohammed Shami gave India the first breakthrough as Aiden Markram was trapped plumb in front of the wicket. Shami got the ball to skid in from a good length and Markram tried to defend but was beaten and struck on the pads.
SA v IND, 2nd Test: Solid bowling display from South Africa bowl out India for 202
For India, stand-in skipper KL Rahul made a fighting fifty while Ravichandran Ashwin missed his half-century by four runs in a batting display where the middle-order, minus an injured Virat Kohli, failed to get going. Just like Centurion, India had won the toss and elected to bat first. But the similarities ended there as India got starts but co'ldn't stitch a big partnership which meant they had to settle for a modest total.
SA v IND, 2nd Test: India 146/5 at Tea; Ashwin, Pant on rebuilding job as Rahul falls after making fifty
The session began with Hanuma Vihari driving through mid-off off Lungi Ngidi. Vihari was given a life at nine when Temba Bavuma dropped a straightforward catch at point off Ngidi. Rahul and Vihari crunched five boundaries in the next six overs, with the stand-in captain's drive through covers and latter's slap over point being the standouts.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in a release, said Kohli will be monitored by the medical team during the proceedings in the second Test.
Harbhajan Singh believes decision to drop him from national side was out of MS Dhoni's control
Speaking to Zee News, Harbhajan said that the decision to drop him from the national side was not that of the then Indian captain M.S. Dhoni but of certain board officials. He further added that Dhoni might not have had a say in the decision (to drop him) but the final call lay with the board members which cannot be overruled by anyone, be it the captain or the coach. "Yes. MS Dhoni was the captain then but I think this thing was above Dhoni's head," he added.

Notably, India were fined 20 per cent of their match fee and docked one point from their World Test Championship points tally for maintaining a slow over-rate during their first Test victory at the SuperSport Park in Centurion despite the match getting over on time after losing an entire day's play to rain.
SA v IND: Bavuma to lead Proteas in ODI series, Jansen gets maiden call-up, Nortje still unavailable
South Africa all-rounder Marco Jansen has received his maiden call-up to the ODI squad for the three-match series against India, starting from January 19 in Paarl. SA v IND: Virat has been phenomenal in the way he has led the team, says Dravid
Dravid remarked, "I think the way he has trained, the way he has practiced, the way he has connected with the group. As a coach, leading into the series there isn't really too much you can do once the game starts. There is not too much control into the results but what you are really looking to do is, as support staff, is to prepare well and get the team into a really good space."
