Top LeT commander killed in Kashmir gunfight
Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police Kashmir said that the wanted LeT commander was killed in a brief gunfight in the Harwan area. Kumar said, "Khalid, resident of Karachi, Pakistan, was active since 2016 and was active in the Harwan-Dhara belt."
India successfully test fires nuclear capable ballistic missile
The ministry said that Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the new generation nuclear capable ballistic missile 'Agni P' from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha at 11.06 a.m. The 'Agni P' is a two-stage canisterised solid propellant ballistic missile with dual redundant navigation and guidance system.

Justice Mishra said this while interacting with the media after a two-day public hearing on the complaints related to human rights violations in the five northeastern state.

Army Chief Gen Naravane takes charge as Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee as per old system
The decision was made as the post of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) fell vacant following the demise of India's first CDS Gen Bipin Rawat in the ill-fated IAF helicopter crash on December 8. The Centre placed in an old system under which Gen Naravane will be taking charge till the appointment of the new Chief of Defence Staff is made.
India successfully tests multi barrel rocket launcher system Pinaka-ER
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in a statement said that successful tests of Pinaka Extended Range (Pinaka-ER), Area Denial Munitions (ADM) and indigenously developed fuzes have been carried out at various test ranges. The system is jointly designed by laboratories of DRDO - Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune and High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Pune.

Gen Rawat second top Army officer to die in Mi-17 crash
This was the first fatality of a top defence official in nearly three decades - and has curious coincidences with the previous incident. The previous incident of a senior Indian Army officer dying in a helicopter crash occurred in 1993 - and it also involved an Mi-17 helicopter, bad weather and the officer being accompanied by his wife. Eastern Command chief, Lt Gen Jameel Mahmood, died in a helicopter crash in May 1993, while on a visit to Sikkim.
