Addressing mediapersons at her official residence here, Irani demanded an apology from Congress to the President and country. "A tribal woman from a poor family who created history is being continuously demeaned by the Congress," Smriti Irani said.

Speaking in Rajya Sabha Sitharaman said: "Objectionable statement was made by by the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha regarding 'Rashtrapati' by using a sexist insult by calling her 'Rashtrapatni', as common understanding is that 'Rashtrapati' is gender neutral representing 'leader of the country' and therefore I think it not a slip of tongue but a deliberate sexist insult against President."

In a series of tweets, Modi said: "The entire nation watched with pride as Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji took oath as the President of India. Her assuming the Presidency is a watershed moment for India especially for the poor, marginalised and downtrodden. I wish her the very best for a fruitful Presidential tenure.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the central hall of Parliament at 10.15 a.m. where Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana will administer the oath of office to her. The oath taking will be followed by a 21-gun salute. Before the ceremony, the outgoing President and the President-elect will arrive in Parliament in a ceremonial procession.

Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana will administer the oath of office of the highest constitutional post of the country to Murmu. The oath ceremony will be followed by a 21-gun salute. After the gun salute, she will address the gathering at the Central Hall as the 15th President of India. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and other dignitaries will be present.

With this, Murmu will be the first tribal, second woman, post Pratibha Patil (2007-2012), and the latest President with a teaching background after Dr. S. Radhakrishnan (1962-1967), Dr Zakir Hussain (1967-69), Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma (1992-1997), K.R. Narayanan (1997-2002), and Pranab Mukherjee (2012-17), ascending to the country's highest office.

The process, which was initiated on June 15 with the publication of programme notification in the Gazette, culminated on Friday with the signing of the Certification of the Election of Droupadi Murmu as the 15th President of the Republic of India by Rajiv Kumar, Chief Election Commissioner of India and Anup Chandra Pandey, Election Commissioner.

"I heartily congratulate Droupadi Murmu on her victory in the Presidential Election 2022. I hope -- indeed, every Indian hopes -- that as the 15th President of India, she functions as the Custodian of the Constitution without fear or favour. I join my fellow countrymen in extending best wishes to her," said Sinha who is backed by the Opposition parties.

PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Pralhad Joshi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawat, besides the Chief Ministers of other BJP-ruled states, many ministers of the Modi cabinet, MPs and BJP veterans were present during Murmu's nomination at the Parliament House.
