Iowa marks the initial state-by-state contest where Republican voters select their candidate, who is likely to face Democrat Joe Biden in the November 5 presidential election.

Despite the bomb threat, the trial proceedings were not interrupted on Thursday. Trump was allowed to speak in the courtroom for about five minutes before the conclusion of closing arguments from his side in the civil fraud case against the Trump Organization.

President Biden referred to the events as the "Day of Infamy," emphasizing the gravity of the attack on the Capitol.

He emphasized the potential for severe consequences, suggesting that preventing Trump from running could "rip the country apart" due to the substantial number of supporters eager to vote for him.

Not even all of Donald Trump's political foes are on board with efforts to kick the former President off the ballot because of his involvement with the January 6 insurrection, media reports said.

In contrast to Michigan's decision, the Colorado Supreme Court recently ruled to remove Trump from its primary ballot due to his alleged involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot. This decision has been temporarily halted until January 2 pending an appeal.

Trump's messages included harsh criticism of what he termed as "thugs" within the United States, expressing concern about factors such as open borders, inflation, Afghanistan surrender, and various policy issues.

Add to this his legal woes in four jurisdictions that will pop up any time next year to haunt him and may make the voters to change their minds.

Trump's legal team, in a comprehensive 71-page submission to the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, argued that the charges should be dropped. They contended that Trump's post-2020 election actions were within the scope of his official duties as President.
