Agnipath scheme should be kept in abeyance, Congress asks govt

The party said the scheme is controversial, carries multiple risks, subverts the long-standing traditions and ethos of the armed forces and there is no guarantee that the soldiers recruited under the scheme will be better trained and motivated to defend the country. Addressing a press conference, P. Chidambaram and Sachin Pilot said that retired defence officers have opposed the scheme and believe that many serving officers share the same reservations about it.
Rahul Gandhi gets a day's rest, to be grilled again on Friday

An ED source said the agency will question Rahul Gandhi again on Friday. "He has been given a day's rest," the source said. On Tuesday, the three-member team recording his statements questioned Rahul Gandhi till past 10 p.m. following which the Congress leader left the ED headquarters at around 11:45 p.m. On Monday, his questioning had ended at about 9 p.m. However, since he reportedly wanted to correct a few parts of his statements, he had to wait for a few more hours at the ED headquarters here.
Sachin Pilot detained outside Congress office

Sachin Pilot who was sent to Narela police station said, "its bad sign for democracy as leaders and workers are not allowed to visit their party offices." Congress leaders who are protesting over the questioning of Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate have alleged that they were not allowed to go to the Congress headquarters at 24 Akbar Road here and many MPs claim that they were not even permitted to leave their house.

Key G-23 leaders maintain distance from Congress' 'satyagrah'
