Government issues guidelines for PLI scheme on drones
These guidelines cover aspects like the definitions, qualification and eligibility application and online portal project management agency (PMA), empowered group of secretaries (EGoS) and competent authority. To make India a global hub for research and development, testing, manufacturing, and operation of drones under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the liberalised Drone Rules, 2021 were released to create a growth-oriented regulatory framework for drones.
PayPal shuts down services in Russia
Payments company PayPal has announced that it is suspending its services in Russia in the wake of Ukraine invasion.Ukraine's vice prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov tweeted a letter from PayPal CEO Dan Schulman, confirming the company's decision to shut down its operations in Russia. Visa and Mastercard have also announced to suspend all operations in the country in the wake of Ukraine invasion.
UP to set up drone manufacturing units
Drones are now being used in various sectors such as agriculture, disaster management, health, maintenance of law and order, among others. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said, "Considering the importance of 'drones' in various fields including disaster relief, agriculture, maintenance of law and order, a concrete action plan should be prepared to establish a drone manufacturing unit in the state."
Centre gives PLI boost to drone manufacturing
Accordingly, the total amount allocated for the PLI scheme for drones and drone components is Rs 120 crore spread over three financial years. This amount, according to an official communique, is nearly double the combined turnover of all domestic drone manufacturers in FY 2020-21. The proposed tenure of the PLI scheme is three years, starting FY22.
Liberalised 'Drone Rules, 2021' to generate employment, economic benefits
The Minister, in a conference cited that the new policy will enable the usage of drones in multiple sectors. "The new policy will promote research and development, manufacturing, service delivery in the country," he said. "There are already 200 Startups in the country even before the announcement of this policy. We expect generation of thousands of jobs via this policy."
