Jamieson's replacement, Magala, has rich experience in the shortest format of the game. Though he has played just four T20Is for South Africa, Magala has a reputation for being a regular wicket-taker in domestic T20 games over the years. He will join CSK at his base price of INR 50 lakh.

After being out of action for several months due to knee surgery, Jadeja has made a successful return to international cricket. He played a crucial role in India's 2-1 win in the four-Test series against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2022-23. However, it will be interesting to see how the left-arm spinner performs for CSK since he didn't have a great IPL season last year.

He was only able to bowl two overs and then struggled physically while batting on the final day. Former Australia opener Matthew Hayden believes this could be the last time Mahendra Singh Dhoni will step into the field as a player. Speaking exclusively on Star Sports following the announcement of the TATA IPL 2023 schedule, Hayden on Friday talked about the reception Chennai Super Kings captain Dhoni will receive when he walks onto the field at Chepauk after almost three years.

"The only difference is I will no longer be standing at mid-on or mid-off! I never thought I would be the leading wicket taker in the history of IPL. But I'm just happy to be a part of IPL history!" said Bravo in an official statement. Bravo had played in the tournament since its inception in 2008.

Viswanathan told CSK TV that he was confident the team will "do well" in the upcoming edition with Dhoni leading the side.

The four-time champions CSK appointed Ravindra Jadeja as their next captain but he stepped down from the role mid-way during IPL 2022 and Dhoni led the side for the rest of the season. The franchise has retained the star all-rounder for the next season but it is unlikely that he will get the captaincy role again.

Bravo, 38, who is playing for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred men's tournament, achieved this unprecedented feat while playing against Oval Invincibles at The Oval on Thursday. Before heading to the game which was his 545th match in the format, Bravo had 598 T20 wickets to his name. In the match against the Invincibles, Bravo picked up two wickets for 29 runs in his quota of bowling.

But the du Plessis-CSK partnership, which ran from 2011 to 2021, barring 2016 and 2017 when the franchise was suspended from IPL, may be reunited, this time in South Africa's upcoming new T20 League. A report by Cricbuzz says that the Chennai Super Kings management has roped in the former South Africa captain as their marquee signing for the Johannesburg franchise in the CSA T20 League.

On Wednesday, Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced that Mumbai and Chennai expanded their footprint in global T20 Leagues by buying the Cape Town franchise, based at Newlands and Johannesburg franchise, based at Wanderers, in its new T20 League scheduled to be held in January and February 2023.
