In its eighth year of operation, the Union government is set to further enrich the scheme by bringing account holders under digital transaction platform by including RuPay debit card usage amongst PMJDY accountholders through creation of acceptance infrastructure across India. Also, improved access will be provided to PMJDY account holders to Micro-credit and micro investment such as flexi-recurring deposit, etc.
Apurva Chandra assumes charge as Secretary in I&B Ministry

Chandra, a 1988 batch IAS from Maharashtra cadre, was serving as the Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment since October 1, 2020 with the mandate to implement the Labour Codes passed by the Parliament in September, 2020 expeditiously. Under his guidance, the rules have been framed for all four Labour Codes after extensive consultations with all the stakeholders.
Reply in English to representations in English, Madras HC to Centre

"Once a representation is given in English, it is the duty of the Union government to reply in English only," it said. The direction by a division bench of the High Court's Madurai bench comprising of Justices N. Kirubakaran and Justice M. Duraiswamy came on a Public Interest Litigation filed by Madurai MP, Su Venkitasan, seeking English alone be used in all communications between the Centre and state governments.

No study on climate change's role in increasing cloudbursts: Govt

Shortage of buses in Delhi resulting in long waits for commuters

After the lockdown restrictions were lifted and public activities were allowed, commuters dependent on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses to reach their offices or return to their homes have to wait for hours to board a bus. The situation becomes worse during the morning and evening rush hours. Women and senior citizens especially face a lot of problems because of the Covid-19 related regulations. At many places, the buses hardly wait for a few seconds, making it impossible for the elderly to board.

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan said, "The pilot scheme is being implemented in 10 States and two Union Territories including the State of Uttarakhand. So far, around 60,000 candidates benefited from this scheme including 3,836 candidates from the State of Uttarakhand."
