BPF candidates shifted from Assam to foil 'horse trading'

Veteran BPF leader and former Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, who is in Assam, said: "All the 12 BPF candidates have been shifted to a neighbouring country. BPF President Hagrama Mohilary accompanied the candidates. However, I do not know which country they have gone to."
Over 61% voter turnout till 2 p.m. in Assam polls

Tuesday's balloting would decide the fate of 337 candidates, including 25 women aspirants. All Covid-19 protocols for the voters including social distancing and thermal screening are being maintained. Election officials said that no untoward incident was reported from anywhere of the 12 western Assam districts, bordering Bhutan, West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh, where balloting is underway peacefully and smoothly.
Only 7.8% women candidates in Assam electoral battle

According to the state's Chief Electoral Officer Nitin Khade, of the total 946 candidates, 74 are women while, out of the overall 2,33,74,087 voters, 1,15,50,403 are females. He said out of the 33,530 polling stations set up for the three phases (March 27, April 1, April 6) of the polls across the state, 1,351 are all women managed.
Assam EVM row: Police arrest three, magisterial probe ordered

A district official said that the Karimganj DM Anbamuthan MP (Repeat Anbamuthan MP) has ordered the magisterial inquiry and entrusted Additional District Magistrate Rajeshan Terang to conduct the probe and submit the report within three days.

Addressing an election rally in Kokrajhar, Modi, without naming the Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), said the Congress must be punished for forging an alliance with an inimical force. "People of Assam in the first phase of elections like in a football match showed the 'red card' to the Congress-led 'Mahajot' (grand alliance) and gave their 'mohar' (stamp) for the double engine government for a second time."
