The badminton annals at the Asian Games have also never witnessed an Indian pair win the gold medals. On Saturday, the doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty made history by winning India's first-ever gold medal in badminton at the Asian Games.

India's 100th medal was a gold won by the women's kabaddi team that defeated Chinese Taipei 26-25 in the final in Hangzhou.  India's 100 medals in Hangzhou include 25 gold, 35 silver and 40 bronze. Of these 100 medals, male participants have won 47 medals (12-17-18) while women have claimed 44 (9-18-19) while seven have come in mixed events.

On the penultimate day of competitions, India claimed one gold, two silver and bronze medals. The men's recurve archery team redeemed itself after disappointing outings in individual events to claim a silver while the women's team bounced back from a defeat to Korea to overcome Vietnam in windy and rainy conditions to win a bronze.

"I am not surprised that we won the gold and qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris. We have played well and had good wins. The semifinal (win over South Korea) was a tough match," the coach after his team defeated Japan 5-1 in the final to win their fourth-ever gold medal in the Asian Games.
