The Panchayati Akhara Niranjani, Swami Kartikeya and seers of all the 13 akharas have condemned the statement made by the Delhi chief minister that there should be pictures of Ganesh-Lakshmi on the currency notes. Mahant Omkar Giri, secretary of Niranjani Akhara, said this amounted to insulting the deities of Sanatan Dharma.

"One Hundred and thirty crore people of the country wish that there should be a picture of Gandhi ji on one side and Shri Ganesh ji and Lakshmi ji on the other side of Indian currency", he said in the letter.

The AAP said, "We strongly object to the language used by L-G for Hon'ble CM." The party alleged that the L-G was lowering the dignity of the chair that he occupies by publicly abusing the CM every day. The L-G on Wednesday had approved to celebrate Chhath Puja at designated ghats on the Yamuna while advising Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against "misleading and premature publicity" over the issue.

The LG Secretariat official said that the CM Arvind Kejriwal's tweet about the Chhath Puja gave the impression that the "Chhath festival will be celebrated on all Yamuna Ghats", which is "misleading" and may cause confusion among the public as the National Green Tribunal has allowed puja only at "designated sites".
