Allahabad HC sets aside dismissal on ground of live-in relationship

The order of dismissal was passed against the petitioner, Gore Lal Verma, solely on the ground that despite being married to one Laxmi Devi, who is alive, the petitioner maintained an extra-marital relationship with another lady named Hemlata Verma and both are staying together as husband and wife. He also has three children from the live-in relationship.

Allahabad High Court asks Uttar Pradesh DGP to remove banners naming criminals

The court said that it is a violation of Article 21 of the Constitution. The banners, along with the names and identities of the criminals, also give information about their criminal history. The court said it believes that it is unnecessary to publicly display information about criminals outside the police stations and is in violation of Article 21.

Allahabad High Court refuses to stay 'love jihad' ordinance

The Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020 was promulgated in November to prohibit religious conversions in the name of 'love jihad'. A bench comprising Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Piyush Agrawal asked the state government to file a counter affidavit by January 4 and fixed the case for hearing on January 7, 2021.
