Samsung officially commenced manufacturing its thinnest-ever smartphone — the Galaxy S25 Edge — in its factory in Noida, India.
The phone was released worldwide, including in India, on May 13. The Galaxy S25 Edge is targeted towards users who value a thin, light design without compromising on performance or features, said a company spokesperson.
Market intelligence firm Counterpoint Research reported that in 2024, Apple and Samsung collectively accounted for a dominant 94% of all smartphone manufacturing activity in India. Within this, Samsung emerged as the volume leader, holding a 20% market share by production over the past year.
For the first quarter ended March, Samsung won 17% of the smartphone market in India with the help of a diversified portfolio. The high-end Galaxy S series, which saw S25 Ultra take the lead, greatly improved Samsung's position in the high-end device segment, helping the company set a new record market share in the same.
"Galaxy S25 Edge is meant for users, who need a thin and light phone that's also performance heavy. It has all Galaxy AI features like multimodal AI, which enable users to communicate with the phone in real-time using vision as well as voice. Galaxy S25 Edge is being produced at Samsung's Noida factory in India," a Samsung spokesperson informed PTI.
The Galaxy S25 Edge costs ₹1,09,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. The variant with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage costs ₹1,21,999. With this pricing model, the phone is set above the Galaxy S25+ but still less expensive than the best Galaxy S25 Ultra.
This new addition to the Galaxy series has a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED screen, with an adaptive refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz. This provides smooth visuals while preserving power consumption. It is shielded by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, the latest in the line, which provides improved resistance to scratches and impacts.
Constructed with an ultra-thin titanium frame, the S25 Edge integrates state-of-the-art durability with a thin, fashionable profile — perfect for users who desire a device that is as good as it looks.
Driving the S25 Edge is the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, the same fast processor used in the remainder of the S25 series. Samsung has overhauled the phone's internal cooling system with a new vapor chamber that is thinner and wider than before, enhancing thermal management under heavy usage. The phone is also IP68 certified, offering robust resistance to water and dust exposure.
