On May 6, Microsoft launched the brand-new Surface Pro 12-inch model, a dynamic two-in-one device that easily doubles as both a tablet and a laptop. This is enabled by its removable keyboard and built-in kickstand. Microsoft also launched the 13-inch Surface Laptop, both of which are powered by a Copilot+ PC system based on a Snapdragon chipset, providing an AI-powered experience.

The Surface Pro 12 features a Snapdragon X Plus chipset that provides 45 TOPS of NPU power and 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Microsoft says that the device provides all-day battery life, so it's perfect for accompanying one through long periods of work or play. The Surface Pro 12 also prioritizes sustainability, as its case is built using 82.9% recycled material, and the battery is made from 100% recycled cobalt.

Design-wise, the Surface Pro 12 boasts a 12-inch touch display. True to its two-in-one character, the device serves as a tablet and can conveniently transform into a laptop by coupling the detachable keyboard. The device also boasts a built-in kickstand so that users may place the tablet at different angles for greater convenience and usability.

The Surface Slim Pen, which is now magnetic, can be clipped to the tablet's back for charging and storage.

The removable keyboard is magnetically attached and has a flat profile for a slim look. Microsoft emphasizes that it offers a silent typing experience. The keyboard also has a dedicated Copilot key to invoke AI capabilities. It is available in three colors: Slate, Ocean, and Violet.

New features added with the Surface Pro 12 are Recall, through which users can go back in their steps to access apps, websites, images, or documents they have recently worked on. Another feature, Click to Identify, permits users to identify text and images straight from their screen. Features also include photo lighting effects and a new agent within the Settings menu to refine user experience.

The Surface Pro 12 is priced at $799 (around ₹67,000) and will go on sale in select markets from May 20.
