Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday said that during PM Narendra Modi's US visit, quantum and advanced computing has also received a boost with a joint Indo-US quantum coordination mechanism, which will also support joint research in artificial intelligence, quantum, and advanced wireless technologies.
"And then there is also the arrangement with the National Science Foundation, which is the US body. It announced that 35 joint research collaborations will also happen with India's Department of Science and Technology. They have also signed a new cooperative arrangement with another ministry," she said.
Sitharaman stated that the Department of Atomic Energy also had a share in the agreements, making 140 million in in-kind contributions to the US Department of Energy.
She also discussed the fiber optics investments, particularly by India's Sterlite Technology Ltd in Colombia, which will also earn more by exports.
