In a LinkedIn post, Gates reflected on the long-standing collaboration between India and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He stated, "Over the past two decades, the foundation has worked alongside the Indian government, researchers, and entrepreneurs to drive progress in healthcare, agriculture, and digital transformation."

He praised India's success in public health, especially the eradication of polio, remembering his 2011 trip when the nation marked its final reported case of polio. Gates also highlighted India's leadership against tuberculosis (TB), citing the country's investment in new diagnostics technologies, artificial intelligence-based detection systems, and innovative treatments. He cited the creation of a revolutionary saliva test for TB costing under $2 as a quintessential example of India's work in global health.

In agriculture, Gates hailed India's leadership in revolutionizing agriculture through AI technologies that aid in forecasting weather patterns, crop selection for optimal growth, and managing risks. Gates commended these technologies, which not only serve India's people but also play a major role in developing the world.

In addition, Gates thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the initiatives undertaken by India during its G20 Presidency to promote the nation's innovations globally.

The visit also represents a historic milestone for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as its Board of Trustees will convene in the Global South for the first time, with India being chosen as the location. "This visit will also be noteworthy because -- as we celebrate our 25th anniversary -- the Gates Foundation's Board of Trustees is convening in the Global South for the first time," Gates said.

While he is in India, Gates will meet government leaders, scientists, and philanthropists who are making the country and the world what they are. "India is the right place for this milestone," he decided.
