Reports suggest Google Maps might bid farewell to its 'Driving Mode' feature on Android, following the removal of the 'Assistant Driving Mode' last year.
Recent insights from code strings in the Google Maps app v14.52 indicate a potential end to the optimized UI of Driving Mode by February 2024, as reported by 9to5Google. Unlike the Assistant Driving Mode Dashboard, which offered a map-centric homescreen with media suggestions, audio controls, and communication options, the Driving Mode appears as a black bar at the bottom of the vehicle's display once navigation is activated.
The Driving Mode's interface facilitates quick access to Assistant, Google Maps, and a launcher presenting compatible music, podcasts, audiobooks, and supported streaming apps, offering users a seamless experience.
In a parallel development, Google introduces an "AI support assistant" chatbot on select Help pages. When accessing support pages for certain Google products, users will encounter a chatbox inviting interaction to seek answers and resolve account issues, enhancing product assistance through this new feature.
