Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has finally responded to ongoing speculation linking him to RJ Mahvash following his separation from Dhanashree Verma. Amid swirling rumours and harsh online comments labelling Mahvash a “homewrecker,” Chahal has now addressed the matter directly.
During a recent podcast interview with Raj Shamani, Chahal was asked about his supposed romantic involvement with Mahvash. Dispelling the rumor, he said, "No, there's nothing. People can think whatever they want to think."
He admitted that healing from his previous relationship would be a process, citing the importance of healing himself first.
Chahal also reminisced about that viral picture of him and Mahvash at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai — one which generated huge dating talk. He said it was the first time he had been spotted in public with someone since his breakup, and that in itself triggered a flurry of assumptions.
Explaining the emotional impact that the rumours had, Chahal said, "For the first time, when I was photographed with someone, people began connecting us immediately. Although she explained it, it was quite difficult for her. She got termed a homewrecker… people used really bad words.". I felt awful… We couldn't walk out together." He spoke of being filled with regret for the way Mahvash was treated, he being a confidant and strong support base for her during one of the most challenging periods in his life.
He also explained about a specific photo from a Christmas meal, explaining that five individuals were there, although the photo going around online was cropped to give the impression that he and Mahvash were having an intimate dinner date.
Another event that had disturbed Chahal was a video shoot at a hotel, before he left for the airport. He claimed that Mahvash had come to drop him off, and he was just combing his hair when the video was taken. The video prompted the wrong conclusions. "People began saying all sorts of cheap things, like that we were leaving a hotel room. That hurt me terribly. It was most upsetting," he declared.
The rumours first started when Chahal and Mahvash were seen hanging out together during the cricketer's breakup with Dhanashree Verma. While Mahvash had categorically asserted at the time that they were just friends, their show of support for a Champions Trophy match and subsequent social media exchanges kept tongues loose. Mahvash has been frequent in hailing Chahal's IPL performances on social media, and in one such moment, he called her his "spine."
Regardless of the constant rumors, RJ Mahvash has always denied that she is in a relationship. She even often addresses and closes down the trolling she receives about the rumored relationship with Chahal.
