Indian cricketers led by Rohit Sharma returned home stealthily after their successful campaign in the Champions Trophy tournament in Dubai.
Skipper Rohit Sharma, who led India to a stunning victory that got them their second ICC title in nine months, landed in Mumbai late on Monday evening.
The players have been granted a week's vacation before they reunite with their respective IPL franchises ahead of the tournament commencing on March 22.
"All the family men left Dubai on Monday, and some have decided to remain behind for a couple of days," a BCCI official told PTI.
As players chose to rest prior to the two-month-long rigorous IPL season, the BCCI did not plan a felicitation function, in contrast to the big reception organized upon the team's return from Barbados after their T20 World Cup victory.
The players had also been given a chance in July to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon their return from Barbados in a special flight.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir and pacer Harshit Rana arrived in Delhi on Monday evening.
In the meantime, Virat Kohli, along with his wife Anushka Sharma, departed from the team hotel soon after India's win at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday evening. Shreyas Iyer, who played a key role in consolidating the middle order, will captain Punjab Kings and will report to his team on March 16.
India won the Champions Trophy title, beating New Zealand by four wickets and continuing an unbeaten record during the eight-team event.
Even though Pakistan was to host the event, all the Indian matches took place in Dubai as per the mutually agreed hybrid model.
