The current world no.1, Swiatek, won the French Open women's singles final against Italy's Jasmine Paolini with a score of 6-2, 6-1. The Polish conqueror of the last edition of the French Open obtained her third title at Roland-Garros by securing a 68-minute victory on Saturday.
But not only did the Polish athlete manage to defend her title; she also became the first woman to win three consecutive titles at one of the four most important tournaments in the last 10 years, according to the WTA, although she won the race after losing the first game and taking the lead with an 11:1 series of games. This was Swiatek's fourth title in Paris and fifth Grand Slam in general because she had already won the US Open in 2022.
“Congratulations for an amazing tournament Jasmine. I’m really impressed with how you’ve been playing, I think you can do so much, especially on clay... I want to thank my team my family, without them I wouldn’t be here," Swiatek said after the win.
Expressing her gratitude towards the organizers and fans, Swiatek added, "I want to thank everyone who makes this tournament possible, as Jasmine said. I love this place, I wait every year to come back here. I was almost out of the tournament this second round so thank you for cheering for me, has been a really emotional tournament."
