India's stand-in captain, Suryakumar Yadav, notched up his fourth T20I century in a scintillating performance against South Africa during the third T20I at New Wanderers Stadium on Thursday. This achievement places him on par with Rohit Sharma, both having secured the most T20I centuries in history.
Completing his century in just 56 balls, the 33-year-old showcased his prowess with 8 sixes and 7 fours, propelling India to a formidable total of 201/7 against the Proteas. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young talent, also contributed significantly with a rapid 60 off 41 deliveries.
Suryakumar Yadav had earlier demonstrated his dominance in the second T20I at Gqeberha, smashing 56 runs from 36 deliveries, further solidifying his position as the top-ranked batter in the T20 format.
Interestingly, in the preceding month, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell joined the ranks, matching Rohit Sharma's record of most T20I centuries. Maxwell's exceptional 47-ball century played a pivotal role in Australia's thrilling last-ball victory against India at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
